A week ago, H attended the interview for senior role. Overall his profile was impressive as he was from one of the top 10 companies in Malaysia and he was promoted to senior level after 5 years in the company. Few months ago, he resigned from his job and went back to hometown to spend some time with his family members after couple years of focusing and committed at work.
During the interview, H was asked to explain the reason for leaving for the last employment. He replied that it was due to personal issue and did not intend to share the real reason of leaving. The hiring manager has no doubt on his skill set but there were some concern on his characteristic and personality as he sounds hiding something from the manager.
In fact, some of the hiring manager are looking into interviewee’s personal quality instead of skill set. They would judge interviewee’s ability to get along in the team and ability to influence others team mate.
Hence, i urge every job seekers to open up yourself during an interview. Try to share more about your concern or problem to both hiring manager and recruiters. Let us understand more so that we can assist you in order to provide you the right career path.
