A year ago, I’ve successfully placed one of my candidates, M in one of my client’s company. M was so excited that he has finally secured a job in the company which has comfortable working environment and challenging job scopes.
2 months later, M came back to me and seek for advises. He mentioned that he noticed that his current scopes of job which is only preparing paperwork, is not greatly contributing to his team, unlike his senior and other peers. He felt that he is worthless to his team and encountered some obstacles in growing and learning. M is unsured and doubt that is it good to move on with other jobs which can provide him greater tasks or greater responsibilities.
After listening to his thoughts and sharing, I’m able to understand his concerns and situation. Then I further explain to him to look into long run, instead of just short run. I persuaded him to stay in the company to see if there is any improvement in upcoming months.
Yesterday, I approached M to check if he’s doing well. And I’m gladly to hear that he is still with the company and he has been assigned with more challenging tasks and able learning new things in the company. He thanked me for persuading him to stay a year ago, and he will keep up his good works in order to grow with the company.
As a fresh graduate, it is a brand-new starting point of one’s career pathway to learn and absorb experience and knowledge from the others. Therefore, do not expect to learn everything in short term period. Think further and grow along with the company, u will learn more and do greater things real soon.
